KeeKee Creates... Honoring Family Traditions

A Legacy of Creativity

My love for creative business runs deep – it’s in my blood! I recently discovered a fascinating piece of family history that connects me to a legacy of artistry and entrepreneurship.

This cherished photo shows my great-grandparents standing proudly in front of their business, “Speig Signs Shop,” with my grandfather Julius as a baby in a stroller. My great-grandfather, Harrison H. Speiginer, was an artist who cleverly used one ‘S’ for all three words in his shop’s sign – a true testament to creative problem-solving!

Discovering this connection to my ancestors’ sign shop business fills me with an incredible sense of pride and purpose. It feels like I’m carrying on a family tradition, albeit in my own unique way. Just as my great-grandfather used his artistic skills to create signs, I’m using my creativity to bring beauty and personalization to people’s lives. It’s a beautiful reminder that creativity and entrepreneurship are part of my heritage.

The Birth of a Letter Lover

KeeKee Creates… a Love Affair with Typography: My fascination with letters and typography began in my teenage years, thanks to an unexpected source of inspiration – my cousin in Panama. When he drew my name in graffiti for the first time, it was like a lightbulb moment. I’d always loved to draw and write, but seeing letters customized in that way? It opened up a whole new world of possibilities!

From that point on, my notebooks became a playground for letterforms. I’d spend hours drawing letters in graffiti style, constantly experimenting and trying to create my own cool-looking alphabets. This early love for typography laid the foundation for what would eventually become KeeKee Creates.

The Evolution of KeeKee Creates KeeKee Creates… was born from a playful twist on my middle name, Keemara. It’s like my artistic alter ego came to life! In 2020, I dove headfirst into the world of calligraphy!

Growing up in Laguna Niguel, nestled in the heart of Orange County, creativity has always been my compass. From a young age, I was captivated by the world of art & design, a passion that led me to pursue a background in graphic design.
